From the Founder: Additional Offering Details

A couple of months ago, I mentioned that I was excited about the new services we were rolling out. Today, I thought I would provide more details in the context of the five areas of retirement planning in which we work for all of our clients. If you feel that any of the following could be beneficial to you or someone you know, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

INCOME PLANNING

We’ve always believed that a foundation for a successful retirement starts with a written retirement income plan. This certainly hasn’t changed and includes assisting you with creating your Social Security claiming strategy as well as creating your strategy for taking income from your nest egg.

TAX PLANNING

When you build up your savings and investments, there are three ways that these funds can be taxed:

  • Taxable: For accounts such as a bank CD, you will be taxed on the interest each year.
  • Tax-deferred: For accounts such as a 401(k) or Traditional IRA, you can defer the taxes until you take withdrawals from the account.
  • Tax-free: For accounts such as a Roth 401(k) or Roth IRA, withdrawals generally do not trigger income taxes.

Over the years, our advisors have spent more and more time assisting you in managing the balance among these three tax outcomes. We believe this topic is extremely important and expect this focus to grow.

The one piece still missing is our ability to assist you with preparing your income taxes. Every year, we get more and more clients asking us to provide this service. While we are not ready at this time, our team has identified this as one of our top priorities, and we plan to be ready to assist you with your 2026 taxes in the spring of 2027.

If you know anyone who currently works in the tax field or is good with numbers and might be interested in helping us build out this division, please do not hesitate to let us know!

INVESTMENT PLANNING

We’ve always believed that it is imperative that you invest appropriately based on your current season of life. For many of our clients, that means we help you transition your nest egg from goals such as growth-only to retirement goals that focus more on maximizing your income while preserving it for the rest of your life. As many of our clients have seen, we believe that our recent transition to Schwab has enhanced our ability to do this successfully.

HEALTHCARE PLANNING

In addition to building your retirement healthcare plan, we now have two additional services that we can provide:

  1. We now have someone that we trust who can assist you with all of your Medicare and Medicare supplement questions. In addition, if you set up your plan through him, he can share that information with us, helping us better understand your insurance plan. [This also includes other health insurance-related questions that you might have.]
  2. We now have a new solution to help cover the costs of long-term care. This is an annuity-based offering that we believe is more flexible than most other options. While it is designed to protect from long-term care costs, it also allows withdrawals for general use and pays out to your beneficiaries if you pass away.

ESTATE PLANNING

An important part of your estate plan is ensuring that your legal documents are up-to-date and accurate. If you prefer to sit face-to-face with a local attorney, we’ve developed an excellent relationship with Jeremy Martin of Harrell, Martin, & Peace in Chapin, and we look forward to continuing our longstanding relationship with him.

If you’re interested in the quickest and most cost-effective approach, we are excited to announce our partnership with Wealth.com. This enables you to create estate planning documents quickly and securely. We feel this can enable seamless integration with your financial plan. Examples of the fees through this partnership:

  • Will, Power of Attorney for Finance and Healthcare Power of Attorney:
  • $400 for one person
  • $750 for a couple

NOTE: As a courtesy, if PS manages over $1,000,000 for your household, we will provide these services at no charge.

We are so excited to start building out these additional resources for you, and we hope that these steps will continue to help you streamline and simplify your financial life. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your advisor if you have any questions.

Warmly,

Pat Strubbe
